Analysis and Potential Factors Influencing Mortality Rates:

The small rise in mortality rates across Canada from August 2023 to August 2024 could be attributed to a number of factors. Aging populations in P.E.I., New Brunswick and Manitoba are likely contributing to the uptick in deaths since they have older demographics. During the summer months, seasonal factors should also be considered. Factors like heat waves or respiratory illnesses could have also affected elevated mortality rates in August 2024. The fluctuations between July and August 2024 may be partially explained by local events or environmental factors. The notable declines in deaths in Newfoundland, Saskatchewan and Ontario could be linked to region-specific health measures or improved weather conditions.
