About Us
Welcome to The Canadian Deceased Registry, the only organization in Canada that maintains a national registry of deceased Canadians. As a vital component of the nation’s record-keeping system, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive, up-to-date, and accurate information regarding deceased citizens in Canada.
Our History
Since our inception in 2018 as a division of Interact Direct Inc., we have preserved a history of approximately 4 million deaths in Canada. Our team is committed to ensuring that this history is preserved and that a reliable, accurate record is available for those who need it.
Our Data
Our data is provided to us directly from Canada’s 2,500 funeral homes. The data is then verified and enriched to ensure it’s as current, complete, and acurate as possible. On average, 1,000 deaths are added to The Canadian Deceased Registry per day.
Entries in our registry consist of:
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Date of Death
- Last Known Address
For verification and reference purposes, we include contact information from the respective funeral home and include an obituary if available. A Death Certificate, if needed, can be requested from the funeral home.
This process ensures that The Canadian Deceased Registry is an accurate and trusted source for those who access it.
Our Purpose
The Canadian Deceased Registry is utilized by many sectors for verification, research and analysis, and actuarial science endeavors. Having an updated deceased registry can assist in communications being respectful and relevant, and in some industries, prevent and combat fraudulent activities.
Beyond the technical applications, The Canadian Deceased Registry stands as a testament to the lives of those who have left us. It is a reminder of our history and the impact Canadians have had in shaping our nation. By documenting each passing, we can be preserved, and the stories of our ancestors can continue to inspire future generations.
Our Commitment
The team at The Canadian Deceased Registry understands the importance of preserving deceased records. Every record is more than data, it represents a person, a life, memories, and a legacy left behind, and we will continually strive to maintain these records with accuracy and reverence.
