Canadian Deceased Registry™ Reports June 2025 Deaths in Canada

After a volatile spring, June brought a continued decline in reported deaths across the country. According to the Canadian Deceased Registry, 17,384 deaths were recorded this month—down slightly from 17,979 in May and 8% lower than the 18,899 recorded in June 2024.

This marks the lowest monthly death count we’ve seen since July 2023.

Here’s a look at provincial highlights for June:

  • Ontario recorded 6,760 deaths—down 2.4% from May and 4.7% below its 12-month average of 7,090.

  • Quebec posted 4,572 deaths, a 2.1% dip from May and nearly 8% below its 12-month average of 4,969.

  • British Columbia reported 1,564 deaths, continuing its downward trend after peaking in January.

  • Alberta saw just 1,374 deaths—the lowest monthly total for the province in nearly three years.

  • Nova Scotia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan also posted meaningful month-over-month declines.
