After reaching a yearly low in June, the number of reported deaths in Canada edged upward in July. The Canadian Deceased Registry recorded 18,173 new entries this month—a 4.5% increase over June’s total, but still 3.8% below the 18,899 deaths reported in July 2024.

While the numbers remain relatively modest for this time of year, nearly every province reported month-over-month increases:
- Ontario led the way with 7,051 reported deaths—its highest since March and a 4.3% jump from June.
- Quebec added 4,708 records, up 3.0% month-over-month and consistent with its long-term trend.
- Saskatchewan saw the sharpest increase at +14.9%, followed by Alberta (+10.1%) and Nova Scotia (+8.1%).
- Prince Edward Island was the only province to see a decline, reporting 115 deaths—down from 127 last month.
